Marokko Trekking offers desert tours with camels, allowing you to experience the majestic landscapes of the Sahara. If you prefer, we can also arrange for jeeps with experienced drivers to accompany you for part of your tour or throughout your entire journey.

Additionally, we offer hiking tours in the Atlas Mountains, sightseeing, and customized experiences tailored to your desires.

If needed, we can organize accommodations before and after your tours, as well as transfers. We provide a range of accommodation options, from various comfort levels to suit different budgets.

The following descriptions are meant to give you a preview of possible tours. The length and route of your tour are completely flexible and do not have to match the examples below.

 

8 Days from Casablanca to the Imperial Cities and the Sahara

Day 1: Casablanca – Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Our representative will provide you with a brief overview of your tour.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes

Today, we begin our tour through the Imperial Cities of Casablanca heading towards the Sahara and continue to Fes. The road to Fes takes us through beautiful farmland, where olives, grains, vegetables, and grapes are cultivated. Before reaching Fes, we will visit Meknes and Volubilis. Volubilis is home to the famous Roman ruins, the remnants of the southernmost outpost of the Roman Empire. Meknes boasts the Medersa Bou Inania and the Bab Mansour, the gate to the Moulay Ismail Palace. This will lead us to the Henri es-Souani, the royal stables, and the grain storage rooms. On the upper floor, there is a rooftop garden and a café with a wonderful view of the city. We will arrive in Fes and check into the hotel.

Day 3: Full Day City Tour of Fes

Today, you will explore the sights of Fes, the ancient Imperial City of Morocco. The tour starts at the gate of the Royal Palace. You will have the opportunity to visit the ceramic cooperative and see traditional Moroccan handicrafts. The tour will take you through the narrow alleys of the Medina to the Jewish Quarter and the tanneries. This tour covers all cultural and historical sights, including the famous Al-Karaouine University. In the afternoon, we will take you to admire the panoramic view of the Medina and visit the new town or the Ville Nouvelle of Fes.

Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride and Night in the Desert)

After breakfast, we drive towards the Sahara, passing through Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to wild monkeys. It will be a good opportunity to take photos of Morocco's wilderness. We will have lunch in a small Berber village. We continue our journey through the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the landscapes of Medilt. We reach the small town of Rich in Erfoud, where we will feel the beginning of the Tafilalet Desert Oasis. From here, we continue into the Merzouga Desert, where you can relax for a few minutes before riding camels and spending the night in a desert camp.

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

After breakfast and a shower, you will enjoy the sunrise in the Merzouga Desert and then ride camels back to the village. We head to Rissani, then to Tinghir and the Todra Gorges. This is the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco. After lunch in the gorge, we continue our drive through the Dades Valley, where we will enjoy the "Monkey Fingers" rock formations. We will spend the night in the Dades Valley with dinner and breakfast. Overnight in the Dades Valley.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakesh

This morning, we drive via Skoura to Ouarzazate. We stop for a panoramic view of the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios. We then visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the village. In the afternoon, we drive over the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh, passing through the Tizi N'tichka Pass (2260 meters high). We return to Marrakesh.

Day 7: Full Day Visit to Marrakesh

Today, an optional private tour of Marrakesh is offered with an official guide from Marrakesh. You will visit the famous Koutoubia Mosque, the Medina and its souks, and explore some of Marrakesh's other secrets: the Ali Ben Youssef Quranic School, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the Majorelle Gardens. Overnight in a Riad in the Medina.

Day 8: Marrakesh – Airport

Transfer to the airport (Marrakesh or Casablanca).

 

Day 1: Casablanca – Marrakech

  • Arrive in Casablanca and explore the city’s key landmarks, including the Hassan II Mosque, the United Nations Square, and the Corniche coastal area.

  • Continue your journey to Marrakech, where you will have free time to stroll around the Medina and enjoy the city's vibrant atmosphere.

  • Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Full Day in Marrakech

  • Optional private tour of Marrakech’s Medina with a local guide.

  • Visit the famous Koutoubia Mosque, the Medina and its souks, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the Majorelle Gardens.

  • Overnight in a riad or hotel.

Day 3: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

  • Depart Marrakech and drive southeast through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi N'tichka Pass (2260 m).

  • Stop at the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a filming location for famous movies like Gladiator and Babel.

  • Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Africa," and make a photo stop at the Atlas Film Studios.

  • Drive through the Roses Valley to Dades Valley for overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Sahara Desert

  • Depart for the Erg Chebbi dunes, passing through Berber villages along the way.

  • Visit the Todra Gorge, then continue to Merzouga.

  • After some rest, embark on a camel ride through the dunes and enjoy the sunset.

  • Overnight at a desert camp with traditional drum music.

Day 5: Merzouga – Arfoud – Ifrane – Fes

  • Early morning camel ride to witness the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast.

  • Travel via Arfoud, Aoufous, and the Ziz Valley to Fes, passing through the Tafilalet Oasis.

  • Stop at the cedar forests near Azrou and possibly spot wild Barbary apes.

  • Optional stop in Ifrane before arriving in Fes.

  • Overnight in Fes.

Day 6: Full Day in Fes

  • Spend the day exploring Fes, the medieval capital of Morocco.

  • Visit the Royal Palace Gate, the Jewish Quarter, tanneries, and the Al-Karaouine University.

  • Visit a pottery cooperative to see traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.

  • In the afternoon, enjoy panoramic views of the Medina and explore the modern city of Fes.

  • Overnight in Fes.

Day 7: Fes – Chefchaouen

  • Travel to Chefchaouen, the "Blue City" in the Rif Mountains, known for its vibrant blue-painted buildings.

  • Wander the Medina and markets, where you can purchase unique local handicrafts.

  • Enjoy the stunning views of the Rif Mountains.

  • Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 8: Chefchaouen – Tangier – Asilah

  • Continue your journey to Tangier, where you will explore the old Medina and visit the Mediterranean beach and Atlantic coast.

  • Visit Asilah, a town known for its annual art festival and painted Medina walls created by international artists.

  • Stop at the Skalla Fortress for panoramic views of the Medina and the sea.

  • Overnight in a local riad in Asilah.

Day 9: Asilah – Rabat – Casablanca

  • After breakfast, head to Rabat, the capital city, to visit the Royal Palace (exterior), Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah of Oudayas.

  • After the visit, continue to Casablanca for an overnight stay in your hotel.

10 Days from Casablanca to the Desert Trails

Day 1 – Arrival at Casablanca Airport Arrive at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. Afterward, explore the historic heritage of Morocco's largest city. We will visit landmarks such as the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Morocco, and the coastal Corniche. Return to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 2 – Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes Today, we begin the desert tour from Casablanca to the Sahara. Depart for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Visit the Hassan Tower and stroll through the Udayas Kasbah. The road to Fes leads through beautiful farmlands growing olives, grains, vegetables, and grapes. Before reaching Fes, visit Meknes to see the Bou Inania Madrasa and Bab Mansour, the gate to the Moulay Ismail Palace. Continue to Henri es-Souani, the royal stables and granaries, which includes a rooftop garden and café with an amazing city view. Arrival in Fes and check-in at the hotel.

Day 3: Exploring Fes with a Local Guide Explore the sights of Fes, the ancient imperial city of Morocco. The tour begins at the King’s Palace gate, with a visit to a pottery cooperative to admire traditional Moroccan crafts. Walk through the narrow alleys of the Medina, visiting the Jewish Quarter and the tannery. The tour includes significant cultural and historical landmarks, including the famous Al-Karaouine University. Overnight stay in Fes.

Day 4 – Fes – Midelt Today, travel via Azrou to Midelt, where you can observe Barbary apes in the forests of the Middle Atlas. Continue to your hotel in Midelt, known as the apple capital of Morocco.

Day 5 – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Depart from Midelt to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. Pass through the Tizi-n-Talghemt Pass and the Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and extensive oasis. Along the way, visit countless Ksars, small villages with unique architecture. Reach Erfoud, famous for its date festival and fossils, then continue to Merzouga. Visit Khamlia, a unique Gnawa village, where you can enjoy traditional Berber pizza before heading into the Merzouga dunes to meet your camel guide. Overnight at a desert camp in the Sahara.

Day 6 – Merzouga – Ouzina Dunes – Ramlia – Tafraout Desert The journey begins with traversing various landscapes, including sand rivers, abandoned villages, and visits to nomadic families and dried-up lakes, leading to the Tafraout Desert, a stunning area only accessible by off-road routes. Overnight in the desert.

Day 7: Tafraout Desert – Alnif – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley After breakfast, continue the desert tour to the Dades Valley. Pass through the Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch, drive through the Dades Valley, where you will see majestic sandcastles and fascinating rock formations known as the "Monkey Toes." Overnight in a chic hotel overlooking the Dades Valley.

Day 8: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech Today, continue the desert tour toward the Roses Valley and Ouarzazate, also known as "Hollywood of Africa." Visit the local film studios and the Kasbah. Proceed to Ait Benhaddou to see the largest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue through the High Atlas Mountains until you reach Marrakech, where you will stay overnight in a traditional riad in the Medina.

Day 9: Full Day Exploring Marrakech Today, enjoy an optional private tour of Marrakech with an official guide. Visit famous landmarks like the Koutoubia Mosque, the Medina and its souks, and explore the secrets of Marrakech: the Ali Ben Youssef Quranic School, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and the Majorelle Garden. Overnight in a riad in the Medina.

Day 10 – Marrakech – Casablanca After breakfast on the final day, transfer to Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca for your return flight, marking the end of the 10-day desert tour.

  • Visit the Hassan II Mosque, Place des Nations Unies, and the Corniche.

  • Drive to Marrakesh and explore the old town at leisure.

  • Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 2: Full Day in Marrakesh

  • Optional guided tour: Koutoubia Mosque, Medina, souks, and landmarks like the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and Majorelle Gardens.

Day 3: Marrakesh – High Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

  • Cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (UNESCO site).

  • Continue to Dades Valley, passing through Ouarzazate ("Hollywood of Africa").

Day 4: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Alnif – Tafraout Desert

  • Drive through the Todra Gorge and Alnif towards Tafraout Desert.

  • Overnight in a hotel after exploring the desert landscape.

Day 5: Tafraout Desert – Ramlia – Ouzina – Khamlia – Merzouga Desert

  • Explore diverse landscapes including sand dunes, lost villages, and nomadic camps.

  • Visit Khamlia, a Gnawa village, then ride camels to a desert camp for a night under the stars.

Day 6: Merzouga – Erfoud – Ifrane – Fes

  • Sunrise in the dunes, then camel ride back to the vehicle.

  • Travel to Fes via Erfoud and Ziz Valley, passing through Midelt and Ifrane.
